What is High Performance Coaching?

personal growth
Annie Bauer, Certified High Performance Coach and Digital Biz Strategist for Women Online Entrepreneurs

High Performance living is the ongoing feeling of full engagement, joy, and having more confidence in all areas of your life.  It is living from the best version of yourself.

As opposed to "expertise"  or "superior performance" in a particular field, High Performance means "succeeding beyond standard norms consistently over the long term across multiple domains while maintaining life satisfaction, well-being, and positive relationships."¹

HOW I BECAME A HIGH PERFORMANCE STUDENT

In the summer of 2016, I was a student enrolled in the High Performance Academy. I received a call from a company called Growth, a company founded by Brendon Burchard, Dean Graziosi, and Ethan Willis. The person on the other end of the line wanted to know if I was interested in High Performance Coaching . . . as a student.

At the time, I was in a really huge period of growth in my own in life. I was in the midst of contemplating some major changes, including a career change and possibly a relocation.

We spent the next two hours talking about whether or not I was a fit for the program. This was a specific project they were working on through their High Performance Coaches at Growth.

Being eager to have someone help me figure out the next steps in my life . . . I said yes. Dedicated to always being a better version of myself and welcoming help to get there, it was a no brainer to jump right in.

(Note: I suspect that my sessions might have become part of the High Performance study conducted during the research of the book, High Performance Habits.)

RESULTS

Over the next 5 months of coaching from July to November, one of the biggest leaps of change and personal development in my life occurred.  I gained the Clarity I needed about my career change. My Energy improved. Productivity went up. And I had the Courage to think about relocating.

The biggest impact?  High Performance Coaching gave me the support, insight, and tools necessary to make a really good plan.  This was a plan for my life that was intentional and reflected my aspirations, priorities, and values.

At that time, it didn't occur to me to become a High Performance Coach myself.  I was just really excited to be well on my way to changing careers, moving to the mountains, and opening up new chapters in my life.

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. ~~Aristotle

WHY I BECAME A HIGH PERFORMANCE COACH

Fast forward a year to the fall of 2017.  By then I was living in my dream city of Asheville and starting work on multiple projects. I thought about all that I had gained from being a High Performance Coaching student.

Brendon's book, High Performance Habits, released in September of that same year.  So I read and researched it--refreshing my knowledge and going even deeper into my understanding of the tenets of high performance.

I looked at all the major positive changes I had made in my own life because of High Performance Coaching.

And then I knew that I wanted even more:

I wanted this kind of change and transformation for everyone.

In addition to writing and producing online courses, I wanted to become a Certified High Performance Coach.

By February of the following year, it was a done deal.

THE SIX CORE HABITS OF HIGH PERFORMANCE

Here are the six core High Performance Habits (discussed in detail in the book High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard).²

  • Seek Clarity
  • Generate Energy
  • Raise Necessity
  • Increase Productivity
  • Develop Influence
  • Demonstrate Courage

These are a bit different from habits like "brushing your teeth" or "making my bed". They are "deliberate habits" that are consciously chosen, performed intentionally, and continually practiced. They are amenable to improvement through consistent, focused effort.³

WHAT IT'S NOT

  • HP Coaching is NOT a measure of personality traits, IQ, or aptitude. It's about the habit patterns that lead to long-term success and life satisfaction.
  • It is not a rah-rah program that is just cheerleading or motivation that doesn't provide lasting change.

COACHING IS FOR YOU IF . . .

Coaching is for people who:

  • like learning
  • want to be more productive
  • need more energy
  • know that getting organized will help them reach goals
  • would like to be more confident
  • seek clarity in life, direction, relationships, or purpose
  • want accountability
  • are committed to living into the best version of themselves

COACHING IS NOT FOR YOU IF . . .

Coaching is not for people who:

  • would rather spend all their free time watching Netflix (Don't get me wrong, I love me a little "Queer Eye" or "Brené Brown" on Netflix. I just don't camp out there.)
  • believe coaching is just for 7 year olds in Little League
  • think self-growth is getting bigger by eating 7 pizzas and downing a 6 pack of soda
  • try to see how many all-night parties in a row they can pull off with no sleep

(I am having a little fun here because if you weren't the type who wanted to improve, you probably wouldn't be reading this article.)

But seriously, coaching is not for anyone who:

  • really doesn't have any goals
  • isn't willing to put in the time and work to improve his or her life

IS HIGH PERFORMANCE COACHING ONLY FOR C-SUITE EXECS AND HIGH ACHIEVERS?

No. While High Performance Coaching is a very successful tool for CEO's, board members, presidents of companies, and celebrities, this program is designed to be universally beneficial for anyone.

(Many top CEO's and famous people have received HP Coaching from some of the best in the coaching field, including its creator, Brendon Burchard.)

Coaching is for stay-at-home moms, entrepreneurs, mid-level managers, teens, college students, parents, artists, creatives, competitive athletes, and more.

Coaching is for anyone who just wants to be the best at what they do with less frustration, more clarity, and more happiness.

I personally believe everyone can benefit from coaching in one way or another. Having a trained pro work with you in any area of your life is immensely helpful.

Coaching gives you dedicated time with a professional to just work on you and what inspires you the most.

Someone with perspective and training can help you discover, inspire, and offer up tools and knowledge.

Now who wouldn't benefit from that?

WHY ANNIE'S COACHING WORKS

Here's my super power:

I am the CBK . . . Chief Booty Kicker.

I know how to push you just enough to get you to stretch and step outside your comfort zone and old ways of thinking. And I still bring understanding, compassion, support and insight to the process.

Because of years of experience, I have insights and knowledge that can go straight to the core of an issue. And I can usually get there in minutes or a handful of sessions . . . not months, and  years.

This means faster growth, more progress, and more forward momentum.

All of my personal development work and programs are based on science, research, and proven techniques.  This is not fluff.  It's not theory or great ideas that haven't been tested.  You won't just get motivation that feels good at the time . . . but doesn't last.

This is the science and research from High Performance Coaching. The feedback and results of over 174,000 actual clients and students have been evaluated.   My coaching is also based on my extensive study of positive psychology, neuroplasticity, neuroscience, human behavior, habits, and more.

THE PROOF IS IN THE CLIENT FEEDBACK

30,000 CHPC sessions from 46 countries have been measured, and the average client satisfaction rating was 9.6 out of 10.⁴  It might be one of the highest ratings of a multi-month coaching program out there.

TESTIMONIALS

I get results.  Here's a testimonial from a previous coaching client:

I am a calmer, more level-headed person than I was before coaching. I look for solutions to challenges (my new word for problems!), and I am getting better at not procrastinating. I found myself setting goals and taking steps to accomplish them instead of dreaming about it.  As a writer, I have come up with a whole new idea for a series of journals--two that are already published! I was able to do that only because of the coaching experience with Annie!  ~~Annie H., Colorado
